
We are looking for a Director of Financial Controlling – EMEA to lead and oversee financial operations across all EMEA entities, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strong risk management. You will act as a strategic advisor to local controllers and senior stakeholders while driving process harmonization, system implementations, and finance projects across the region.
Main responsibilities:
Financial & Accounting Leadership
- Oversee risk management processes and internal controls across all EMEA entities, ensuring compliance and early identification of financial and operational risks.
- Ensure statutory accounts, tax filings, and company secretarial obligations are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time.
- Maintain complete balance sheet visibility for all entities, including reconciliations, ageing reviews, and escalation of structural issues.
- Ensure P&L and balance sheet accounts are correctly booked, explained, and aligned with local and group reporting standards.
Controlling & Advisory
- Lead financial controlling for smaller entities while supporting business unit controllers in larger markets
- Act as a key business advisor to local controllers and the broader finance team, providing guidance on accounting, processes, and reporting.
- Manage accruals, bonuses, and commission calculations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Project Management & System Implementation
- Co-lead finance system and tool implementations, including testing, process mapping, and regional rollouts.
- Support acquisition-related projects and act as project manager where needed, ensuring smooth integration and financial accuracy.
Governance & Harmonization
- Drive account and cost center harmonization across EMEA to support consistent reporting, transparency, and efficient governance.
- Manage insurance renewals to ensure appropriate, timely coverage aligned with business needs.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with business unit controllers (dotted line) across Europe, acting as a financial consultant for the wider company.
- Serve as the EMEA finance team’s point of contact for North America and Canada, participating in cross-regional calls and projects as needed.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including CFO, country heads, and HR/Compensation teams.
Required skills:
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial controlling, ideally within Big 4 or multinational environments.
- Strong technical accounting expertise (statutory reporting, balance sheet management, IFRS/GAAP knowledge).
- Proven ability to lead multiple stakeholders and operate effectively in a matrix organization.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English (Hungarian not required).
- Flexibility to travel across Europe occasionally.
- Act as a role model in a fast-paced, complex matrix environment.
