We are looking for an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to join a Shared Service Center in Budapest. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end GL activities and support the transition of accounting processes from European entities to Hungary.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end General Ledger and month-end closing activities
- Perform journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis
- Handle intercompany, fixed assets, bank, inventory and cost accounting
- Prepare documentation and provide support for audits and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Support the transition and implementation of processes into the Budapest SSC
- Work closely with AP, AR, FP&A, Treasury and other teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvements
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior colleagues
- Maintain process documentation and work instructions
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 4–6+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting or financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end GL processes and month-end closing
- Experience with intercompany, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience in a multinational environment is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent English skills
